The Delran Green Team prepared a Five Year Community Forestry Plan with a small grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). The Green Team presented the plan to the Mayor and Council in February 2018. The plan was adopted and submitted to the NJDEP for approval. Our plan was approved by the NJDEP in May 2018. The goals of the plan is to:
- Ensure Public Works employees and Green Team volunteers meet the training requirements
- Provide education and outreach
- Create tree inventories of our parks and playgrounds
- Apply to become a Tree City USA community
- Celebrate Arbor Day
- Plant new trees
- Use the inventories to develop maintenance and planting plans
- Apply for grants to fund the planting of new trees
We are expected to submit Accomplishment Reports annually on February 15th.
