Community Forestry Plan

Delran Township has received a grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to create a Community Forestry Plan.  Our Delran Day display focused on our local trees.  We are particularly interested in Ash Trees as the Emerald Ash Borer has been confirmed in Moorestown, Cinnaminson, Edgewater Park and Westampton.  These stately trees are being killed by this invasive pest.

Ash Trees are pretty easy to identify: The bark has a Diamond pattern, the seeds when present look like oar shaped wings, and the leaves are compound with one at the tip and anywhere from 5 to 11 leaflets and the branches are opposite rather than alternating. These trees are 40 to 60 feet tall.

We need your help to create an inventory of Ash Trees that could be affected.  If you’re not sure, add the address and we’ll stop by to take a look and confirm if the tree is an Ash. We are working with a Forester and we’ll be deploying traps in areas with affected Ash Trees.
