Delran Community Day

Sunday September 28 is Delran Community Day.  Stop by our table.  We are looking for volunteers to work on some exciting projects.  No experience required.  We are putting together a Tree Patrol to inventory all of our municipal trees and assess their overall health and contribution to the community.  We are also planning to create an online map of important places in Delran using GIS tools that will be viewable on any electronic device – desktop computer, tablet or phone.

Delran Day EcoChallenge

The EcoChallenge is an annual event that challenges people to choose one action to reduce their environmental impact and stick with it for two weeks. Individuals and teams pick a category—water, trash, energy, food, transportation or civic engagement—and set a goal that stretches your comfort zone and makes a difference for you and the planet. EcoChallengers accrue points for engagement (everything from succeeding at your EcoChallenge to engaging friends and family in the event earns points). At the end of the EcoChallenge your points will increase your odds of winning fun raffle prizes! EcoChallenge inspires and challenges people to change one habit for the planet. Together we will collectively prove that small actions add up to real change.

I’d love for you to join our EcoChallenge Team and participate with us from October 15-29, 2014. It’s only two weeks.  You can use the following link to find out more and register for Delran’s team.

Community Asset Map

Create an on-line map of Delran’s important assets such as churches, schools, parks, clubs, businesses and other places for children, teens, families and seniors. After an initial meeting to brainstorm a list of assets, volunteers can select assets to photograph and collect key information – names, address, phone, website, hours.  This can be done on your own time and the information forwarded electronically. Once all the information has been processed and the map is created, we will reconvene to see the final version.
